OSHA 8-Hour HAZWOPER Refresher & OSHA 8-Hour HAZWOPER First Responder Operations Awareness Level

This course is intended to assist in satisfying the annual training requirement of the Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) rule, found in Title 29 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 1910.120. The standard was specifically developed to protect workers that may be exposed to hazardous waste at uncontrolled hazardous waste sites and at EPA licensed waste treatment, storage and disposal facilities; as well as workers responding to emergencies involving hazardous materials, such as spills.

Duration: Eight hours of training.

Prerequisite Course(s) and Identification: Participants must have taken an initial OSHA 8-hour training course prior to attendance in order to receive a refresher certificate.

Alternatively, the material covered is equivalent to an OSHA 8-Hour First Responder Awareness Level which requires sufficient training (Para-Professional) to demonstrate competency in an assigned duty coupled with this OSHA First Responder Operations Awareness Level (8 hour training). These participants will receive their initial 8- hour training certificate.

Course Completion Requirements: Students must complete the course's 8 hours of training and demonstrate competency in hands-on exercises.

Intended Audience: This course is intended for supervisors, environmental professionals, wildlife responders and other hazardous waste site personnel, including:

  • Workers in cleanup operations at uncontrolled hazardous waste sites;
  • Workers responding to emergencies involving hazardous materials; and
  • Any individuals requiring annual OSHA 8 Hour Refresher training.

  • Copy of certificate showing previous 8-hour HAZWOPER training or HAZWOPER refresher class (if you are re-certifying).
  • Copy of valid driver's license or passport providing identity
