Caring for Texas Wildlife ... One Animal at a Time

BECOME A VOLUNTEER

TWRC offers many areas for volunteer participation, all of which are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.  In addition, corporations often match donated money, time, and services by their employees.  Volunteers are needed to assist with the daily operations of the Shelter.  Duties include answering the hotline, caring for the educational animals, helping with admissions, office chores, data entry, general Shelter maintenance, and/or help with Shelter tours and lectures through the Speakers' program.

Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age, attend a new volunteer orientation and become a member of TWRC ($25/yr).  The New Volunteer Orientation will also explain the many other ways to get more involved at TWRC.

The Volunteer Coordinator will work with you to determine where your interests lie and how you might best fit into our organization.  We do not require any previous experience but we look for people who want to work with people.  It is important to love animals, and there are opportunities to interact with animals, but the community supports the Shelter with their donations (monetary, non-monetary), so we need people who are, or can learn to be, comfortable interacting with the public.

There are opportunities for all age levels, skills, and interests!

Key areas are:

  • Shelter Volunteer
  • Wildlife Rehabilitator
  • Speakers’ Bureau
  • Scout Projects
  • Baby Bird program
  • Fundraising
  • Operational needs at the Shelter
  • Non-monetary donations
